Lancaster Castle

K&B Piling were proud to work alongside Quadriga on the demolition and groundworks as part of the renovation works at Lancaster Castle, a Grade I listed historic landmark in Lancashire. Delivering works within such a significant heritage site required a careful, controlled approach to protect the existing stonework and surrounding structure at all times. The project ran over a 12-month period, with works phased carefully throughout.

Our scope included internal demolition, foundation installations, drainage upgrades and gully works, along with external flagging and the restoration of historic pathways. Much of the programme focused on demolition and preparation, including extensive stripping out of old materials and the careful removal of existing structures. We also re-laid large paving slabs, preparing suitable sub-bases to ensure long-term stability.

Additional works included drainage repairs, excavation of trenches for new cable ducting, and the construction of a structural raft foundation to support the installation of a new oak staircase. All works were carried out in stages to maintain structural stability and minimise disruption to the integrity of the castle, successfully combining modern construction methods with traditional materials while preserving its historic character.
